General Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (2011-2015) and chief of staff of the U.S. Army (2011), was a guest speaker at the LeMieux Center for Public Policy speaker event on February 8th, 2018.
The LeMieux Center for Public Policy welcomes General Martin E. Dempsey, who served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2011 to 2015 and as chief of staff of the U.S. Army in 2011. General Dempsey will deliver a lecture on “Leading Organizational Change: Capturing Innovation and Efficiencies While Operating in Complexity.”
Recently retired after 41 years of military service, General Dempsey has held numerous leadership roles, including commanding a cavalry troop, a tank battalion, a cavalry regiment, a tank division, and United States Central Command, where he was responsible for securing U.S. interests in the Middle East and South Asia. He served in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, accumulating 42 months in combat. In 2015, TIME magazine recognized him as one of the 100 most influential leaders in the world.
